Jennifer Lightle, RN, Honored with DAISY Award at Memorial Healthcare

Monday, June 24, 2024 (Owosso, MI) – Memorial Healthcare is pleased to announce Jennifer Lightle, Registered Nurse, on 2-North as its second quarter recipient of the DAISY Award! Jennifer received this award based on the following nomination:

“Jennifer shows compassion and care for her patients. She takes the time to understand them and their needs. She remains calm in very stressful situations. Jennifer not only tends to her patients but also listens to the families to understand the dynamics outside the hospital setting. She is a hard worker with a big heart and cares for the patients and families as if they were her own, giving them the respect they deserve. Jennifer is the type of nurse who consoles her patients or families during difficult situations. I watched Jennifer remain calm during a time of passing for a patient who couldn’t be held by her family. Jennifer held the hand of her dying patient, reassuring them until the end. The patient squeezed back, letting Jennifer know that she wasn’t alone at the end. When the family arrived, Jennifer comforted and helped them understand, giving them reassurance and peace knowing that their loved one was comforted until the final moment.”

Jennifer was presented with a certificate of recognition, a DAISY pin, cinnamon rolls, and an incredible serpentine stone sculpture carved by the artists of the Shona Tribe located in Zimbabwe, Africa. This sculpture is known as the “Healer’s Touch,” and it portrays the embracing relationship nurses have with their patients.

The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary, compassionate, and skillful care given by nurses every day. Nurses are nominated by patients, families, and fellow employees. If you’d like to nominate a nurse for the DAISY Award, please click here. Nominations are accepted all year long.
