Memorial Healthcare, an independent, non-profit hospital in Owosso, Mich., is expanding its comprehensive social services with a new state-of-the-art childcare facility. Located a mile from the hospital’s main campus in Owosso at 1488 N. M-52, the Memorial Childcare Academy is currently enrolling for its August opening date.
The nearly 20,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility is being developed in partnership with Heritage Hollow, a trusted childcare provider in Shiawassee County with more than 20 years of experience. A state-certified facility, Memorial Childcare Academy strongly emphasizes fostering a sustainable learning environment for enrolled children. The spacious rooms are designed for optimal learning and are led by teachers who have received bachelor’s and/or master’s degrees in early-childhood curriculum. Additionally, the facility will offer lower child-to-teacher ratios than competitors within a safe, clean environment.
The facility will have the capacity to host 100 children, ranging from infants to 12 years of age, for full-time and part-time care starting at $225 per week for full-time preschool students. Children attending full-time will benefit from unique daily menus crafted by a Memorial Healthcare Dietitian.
“The Memorial Childcare Academy was developed to address the growing need for high-quality early childhood care in Owosso and will serve as an additional benefit for our employees and community,” said Brian Long, FACHE, president and CEO of Memorial Healthcare. “Our academy will help balance the demand of raising a family while pursuing personal endeavors, offering parents and guardians the peace of mind that their children will be safely cared for in an active and educational environment.”
As part of the program’s offering, Memorial Childcare Academy will teach defined lesson plans, host biannual conferences, and keep a portfolio of each child’s progress throughout their time at the facility. The academy aims to foster a home-like environment that offers optimal conditions for children to thrive.
“Great classrooms are produced when the culture is healthy and the staff is happy,” said Adam Grass, Executive Director of Memorial Childcare Academy. “Our goal is to create a safe, engaging home-like experience for our children, and we’re grateful to the Memorial Healthcare team for helping us bring this dream to life.”
Construction is underway to renovate the existing facility and is expected to complete by mid-summer.
